Kaku's Sushi and Seafood Buffet

Kaku's Sushi and Seafood Buffet is the brainchild of Japan's Kaku Makino, who brought the popular sushi and seafood buffet concept to the US via the popular chains Todai and Makino.

Kaku's Sushi and Seafood Buffet opened up in the former Yauatcha space at the International Market Place, and has already grown a huge following.

I attended a media event there to try out the bountiful buffet, which included sushi, vegetables, fresh fruit, a ramen and udon station, and a variety of hot entrees, including orange chicken, fried rice, dynamite oysters, shrimp & vegetable tempura, miso butterfish, crab legs, and so much more!

They only have crepes & ice cream for dessert, but you can customize it to your liking with fruits and syrups.

My faves were the hot items - the tempura, orange chicken, fried rice, and tonkatsu.  I also really liked the ramen and udon station, since you can top off your bowl with a variety of garnishes.

I thought the selection of sushi was very impressive, and some of my friends preferred the sushi over the hot items.

Lunch is $21.95, and dinner is $38.95 per person, which I think is a really great all-you-can eat price, especially in Waikiki.
