Visit Rome: Trevi Fountain

At the port of Civitavecchia, we opted to go on the Best of Rome tour that included a visit to Trevi Fountain, the world’s most well-known fountain by one of Italy’s most famous sculptors, Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
According to legend, if you toss a coin into Trevi Fountain, it means you will return to Rome.  If you toss two coins, it means you will return and fall in love.  If you toss three, you get the gamut and will return, fall in love, and marry!  The proper way in making these wishes come true is to toss the coin with your right hand over your left shoulder.  You will need to make a separate toss for each coin.
Being the most well-known fountain in the world, it has got to be racking up the coins right?  According to an article on fodors.com, the fountain collects almost $1.7 million a year!  Thankfully, it goes to a good cause – helping the poor and homeless through a Catholic charity.

We all tossed in a coin so hopefully we will return someday!
