Visit Sydney: Taronga Zoo Sydney

Koala and Cade!
If you are visiting Sydney with kids, a trip to Taronga Zoo is a must!  You'll see all your favorite Aussie animals like wombats, koalas, and kangaroos.  But what sets this zoo apart are their animal experiences.  For a separate fee, you can get up close and personal with several different animals including giraffes and penguins.  The catch is that the zoo sells a limited amount of tickets for each experience and if you want to ensure your spot, you must be at the gift shop early.

We arrived about thirty minutes before the gift shop opened to purchase our tickets and there was only one other person in line.  We were happy to get our tickets, but it made for a long day at the zoo since the giraffe experience is daily at 11am and the penguin experience daily at 2pm.  But it was worth it!  Feeding the animals was a very unique experience for Cade and I and we both loved it.

We loved feeding the giraffe! This was my favorite!
A small playground area.  The zoo also has a Wild Ropes program where kids and adults can navigate high ropes courses.

Cade and Emu.

Feeding the penguins was an amazing experience!

You can reach the zoo also by ferry!  A most beautiful view of the harbor.
