Visit Maui: Luxury Beach Villa at the Fairmont Kea Lani

The Fairmont Kea Lani was the perfect venue for the inaugural Hawaii Mom Blog momcation (for those of you who may not be familiar with the term momcation, it's basically a vacation for moms ... a much-needed and necessary break from the high demands of being a mother). This luxury resort, located on the southwestern coastline of Maui, was like heaven on earth, and provided us with some much-needed respite from the daily demands of being a mom, and a wife.

Upon arriving at the resort, we were greeted with a welcome drink and fresh orchid lei. The drink was just what we needed after our morning flight from Oahu.

The open-air lobby was beautiful and gave us a peek-a-boo view of the ocean. I couldn't wait to explore the resort.

We arrived well ahead of the hotel's 4 pm check-in time, so we decided to pass the time with a walk along the coastal beach path. We needed to change into more comfortable clothing, so we requested access to the hospitality suite.

The hospitality suite is basically one of the regular suites in the hotel - perfect for freshening up. Gem reminded us that we only had the hospitality suite for 15 minutes, but we were so grateful for being able to change our clothes and use the restrooms in a private, comfortable, clean setting.

We returned the hospitality suite key to the front desk and we were on our way. We walked through the resort grounds to get to the coastal path by the beach. The grounds were perfectly manicured and green.

The 24 hour pools were crystal clear and not very crowded at all.

There were ample padded chaise lounge chairs for guests....

Fronting the resort on the ocean side is Wailea's Polo Beach - a 600 foot white sand beach.

Beach umbrellas are available to registered guests of the Fairmont Kea Lani on a complimentary, first come first served basis. Sunscreen and lotion are also complimentary and available at the pavilion where you sign up for the umbrellas.

We decided to head up north along the Wailea Coastal Walk, where we enjoyed picturesque views of the ocean and four islands (West Maui, Lanai, Kahoolawe and Molokini).

After our three mile stroll along the coastline of Wailea and our spa treatments at the Willow Stream Spa, our room was ready for us.  It was the moment we were all waiting for!

The Fairmont Kea Lani generously hooked us up with one of their exclusive 3-bedroom ocean front villas.

Our 3-bedroom villa consisted of 2,200 square feet of luxury. The entrance to the villa leads to the second floor, which consisted of a spacious master bath, equipped with a deep soaking tub, walk-in stone shower and twin pedestal sinks.

There was no shortage towels in this bathroom!

The master bathroom connected to the master bedroom which was complete with a flat screen TV, king size bed, and ceiling fan (I got to stay in this room!). I can honestly say that I had one of the MOST RESTFUL SLEEPS in this bed. Once I laid down for the night, I did not wake up until the next morning. I cannot remember the last time I 'slept through the night' (it's been at least 5 1/2 years).

Anyway, back to the villa ... there was a large walk-in closet in the hallway which was unused on this trip, since we each had our own rooms with more than enough storage space for one person.

Nadia chose to stay in this bedroom on the second floor, which had a lanai that overlooked the private pool below.

You heard right - a private pool! Every villa at the Fairmont Kea Lani has its own plunge pool in a private courtyard.  I was envisioning taking a dip in that pool in the evening with a tall glass of wine or champagne, but the pool was not heated and it would have been too cold.

But back to the villa itself, the first floor had a nice dining area that could easily seat six people ....

the perfect size for a family to enjoy.

I never understood why people want to cook while they're on vacation, but for those who like to cook while staying in a hotel, the villas are perfect for you. The villas have a full gourmet kitchen, equipped with a Nespresso machine, French press, kettle, complimentary Kona coffee and Fairmont teas. I had always wanted to try espresso from a Nespresso, and here was my chance. After spending a few minutes trying to figure out how it worked, I tried my first cup of Nespresso espresso it did not disappoint.

There is also a full-size stainless steel refrigerator pre-loaded with bottled water, coconut water, juice, a loaf of bread, and jam!

If I had a kitchen like this at home I would definitely cook more.

Soon after we settled into our room, we were welcomed with more amenities - a bowl of fruits,

chips, jam, nuts, champagne, Ocean vodka,

and house-made banana bread with butter! Since we had dinner plans in a few hours, we decided to save the banana bread for breakfast.

Next to the kitchen is the spacious living room, which has a sofa that folds out to a queen size bed.

And let's not forget about the washer, dryer (detergent is provided!) and ironing board (not pictured). We didn't get to use them, but they're a great amenity for families or if you're staying for a few days or longer.

Here's what the second master bedroom on the first floor looks like (Gem stayed in this room). I loved the color of the wall.

I spent most of the afternoon outside, admiring and taking pictures of the view and sunset.

A few minutes before sundown, I walked to the beach (which was literally steps away from our villa) and took in the moment. Words can't describe how amazing it was - just look at the pictures below...

While I enjoyed my time away from being a mom, during my stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani Villas I kept thinking to myself how much my hubby and twins would have a blast here. Whether you're going on a honeymoon, baby moon, retreat, or family vacation, the Fairmont Kea Lani Villas is the perfect fit for you.

Mahalo to the Fairmont Kea Lani for hosting our stay!  Gratuities were paid on our own.
