Treat Mom to a Special Mother's Day Dinner at Alan Wong's Honolulu

Mother's Day is just a few days away, and if you want to treat your mom (or yourself!) to a fabulous dining experience, look no further than Alan Wong's Honolulu.

I had the privlege of previewing the Mother's Day Special Menu.  On May 13, a Prix Fixe menu will be offered for $95 per person ($140 per person with wine pairing).

The menu consists of:

"Soup and Sandwich" - Chilled Tomato Soup, Grilled Foie Gras, Kalua Pig, Mozarella Cheese Sandwich

2nd Course Choices:
Keahole Lobster and Shrimp Lasagna

Seafood Dumpling

 3rd Course Choices:
Ginger Crusted Onaga
Fresh Island Fish with Grilled Shrimp

 4th Course Choices:
Twice Cooked Short Rib, Braised and Grilled "Kalbi Style"

Ribeye Steak

Dessert Choices:
The Coconut

Waialua Chocolate "Crunch Bars"
It was an amazing meal from start to finish. The entire menu is full of dishes inspired by our ethnically diverse state, combining cuisines from around the world with locally-sourced ingredients.

I absolutely loved the elevated "Soup and Sandwich" starter.  There's just something so classic and comforting about tomato soup and grilled cheese.

The Keahole Lobster and Shrimp Lasagna was hearty and stuffed to the brim with huge pieces of shrimp and lobster, and the Seafood Dumpling was slightly spicy, but very delicious.

The Ginger Crusted Onaga, one of Alan Wong's Honolulu's signature dishes, did not disappoint, and the Fresh Island Fish with Grilled Shrimp was just bursting with flavor.

The Ribeye was tender and juicy, and my favorite dish of the entire meal, the Twice Cooked Short Rib, Soy Braised and Grilled "Kalbi" Style, was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and simply amazing.

There's no doubt that you will be indulging in a lot of fabulous food for the first four courses, but you will want to make sure you save room for dessert.

"The Coconut" is a chocolate shell full of haupia sorbet, accompanied by fruits drizzled in a Hanaoka Farm lilikoi sauce. So refreshing! The Waialua Chocolate "Crunch Bars" were decadent and delightful - sure to please any chocolate lover!

All mothers deserve to be celebrated, so be sure to call 808-949-2526 for reservations!
