Stripsteak Waikiki

After winning a $50 gift card for Stripsteak at the International Marketplace (thanks @hungryvoyager), I decided to make a date night out of it and invited a few of our BFFs to join us.

Stripsteak is Michael Mina's first restaurant to open in Hawaii. For me, this was the first time dining at a Michael Mina restaurant, and I was really excited to see if it would live up to the hype.

As soon as we were escorted to our table, our glasses were filled with complimentary bubbly.  But of course, the alcohol would keep on flowing. One of our friends ordered a nice bottle of wine that we all shared.

Duck Fat fries are complimentary at dinner time.

We just made it in time for Happy Hour, so we ordered a few items from the Happy Hour menu - shishito peppers and Tokyo Tots.

"Tokyo" Tots
We also ordered a few starters....

B-L-T Wedge Salad

"Instant Bacon"

And to our surprise, the manager provided us with additional starters on the house.

Hand-Cut Steak Tartare

Michael's  Ahi Tuna Tartare

By now, we were trying to pace ourselves, since we still had our main courses to tackle.

Ora King Salmon

NY Strip Steak

Baked Potato

And although our tummies were full, we could not resist dessert.

Blueberry "Pie"

Strawberry Matcha Shortcake

I really enjoyed the happy hour menu and appetizers! Don't get me wrong, the steaks were good too, but I'm not big on fancy steaks (Sterling Silver steaks from Times suits me just fine!), and the steaks are what drives up the cost of the tab.  The service was impeccable - definitely a 5 star experience in my book.
