Utage Restaurant + Lounge

Utage Restaurant + Lounge is widely known for their traditional Japanese and Okinawan fare. The food is comforting, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is casual and inviting.

My friend and I stopped here for a quick snack on a weekday afternoon, just after the lunch rush. We both weren't super hungry, so we decided to share the ahi tempura meal.

All meals come with soup or salad - I chose the soup of the day, which was clam chowder. You may be wondering why I would order clam chowder at a Japanese restaurant, but I must say, this clam chowder was better than most other places on Oahu. It was nice and thick.

Our main course consisted of four thick pieces of ahi and a handful of large pieces of seasonal vegetables. We couldn't believe how much tempura we were given. It was definitely enough for two people to share.

For dessert - jello with whipped cream. :)

Utage Restaurant + Lounge is located in City Square Shopping Center, near Young's Fish Market.
