Kids Meals Now Available at 12th Ave Grill

I love 12th Ave Grill.  My husband and I had a wonderful first dining experience at 12th Ave Grill a few years ago, and we've been longing to go back.  However, getting a sitter is not so easy these days.

So imagine my excitement when I found out that 12th Ave Grill now offers kids meals!  I was eager to finally return to 12th Ave Grill with kids in tow.

Upon seating, each child was offered a Kids Menu, along with a coloring book and crayons.

Two of my kids immediately knew what they wanted (one is a Mac-n-Cheese lover, the other loves trying new things).  One of my kids couldn't decide between the Mac-n-Cheese and Chicken Fingers, but he was eventually won over by the French Fries served with the Chicken Fingers.

While waiting for our orders to arrive to the table, we enjoyed some complimentary Focaccia Bread.

It wasn't too long before the kids meals were served.
Keiki Mac-n-Cheese
The Mac-n-Cheese looked so good!  The gooey cheese and crispy topping was a combination my oldest son could not resist.  He easily ate up the entire bowl.
Grilled Jidori Chicken Breast Fingers
My youngest son ordered the chicken fingers, which were served with a honey mustard dipping sauce, hand cut fries, and broccolini tops.  He loved the fries, and thought the chicken was just "okay" (we took home leftovers).  I tried a piece and I personally thought it was delicious, but my son was not used to eating grilled chicken with herbs and spices (if he eats chicken fingers, they're usually breaded and deep fried).
Maui Cattle Co. Grass Fed Chopped Steak
The Chopped Steak was served with mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy, and broccolini tops.  My middle son wiped his plate clean!  He devoured everything, including the broccolini!

I was very impressed with the kids meals.  You won't find packaged macaroni and cheese or frozen chicken being served up.  Everything is fresh, and incorporates local ingredients whenever possible.

For dessert, the kids menu offers a scoop of gelato in chocolate, vanilla, or caramel, topped with fresh whipped cream.

The adults enjoyed a couple of wonderful dishes from the evening's Blackboard Specials.

Lobster Ravioli

Coriander Seared Opah
I opted for the Lobster Ravioli.  Lobster meat was stuffed in a squid ink pasta ravioli, and served in a fragrant lobster cream sauce with Small Kine Farms mushrooms, asparagus, and ikura.  A slice of rosemary bread ciabatta finished off the plate.  The dish was so filling - my husband had to help me eat some of the ravioli!  The texture of the ravioli was a little tougher than I expected, but overall I really enjoyed the ravioli!

My husband ordered the Coriander Seared Opah (Monchong was noted on the menu, but we were later told it was actually Opah being served that evening).  It came with a coconut forbidden rice, Tom Farms broccoli rabe, curried Hau`ula tomato, and Maui Pineapple chutney. My husband loved the fish!

We saved just enough room for dessert!
Guava Cheesecake Bread Pudding

Fried Big Island Candy Apple Banana Split
The Guava Cheesecake Bread Pudding - Punalu`u sweet bread, house made lemon ricotta cheesecake custard and North Shore guava anglaise, was so good!  This was one of the best desserts I've had in a while (a scoop of gelato to top it off is a must!).

My husband ate up the Fried Big Island Candy Apple Banana Split, which included deep fried bananas in a mochiko and almond crust and vanilla gelato topped with Maui rum pineapple & sea salt caramel and whipped cream.

We had another great dining experience at 12th Ave Grill.

The food and the service were both exceptional, and the best part was that we were able to enjoy a nice dinner with the entire family!
