Yajima-Ya

I was disappointed when I heard that one of my favorite Japanese restaurants - Hinone Mizunone, was closing its doors after 10 years on South King Street.  But disappointment soon turned into excitement when I heard that the owner of Yajima-ya food truck, which was right behind Hinone Mizunone, would be taking over the space.

To those of you who used to frequent Hinone Mizunone, you'll notice that not much has changed except the signage and the menu.

It seems like the owners of Yajima-ya took over not just the location, but the fixtures, furniture, equipment, trays, and tableware.

The menu is very similar if not almost exactly like the food truck.  Customer favorites such as the mushroom chicken, udon, and garlic ahi are on the new menu.  And, they serve the same highly coveted rice that Hinone Mizunone was known for.

On the side of the building facing the Yajima-Cosmo Service Station, they have a side entrance for take out orders.  Prices are lower than the restaurant side, and there are a few window seats and a table outside if you want to eat your take out order there.

Congrats to the Yajima-ya owners and best of luck in your new brick and mortar!
