Visit Kauai: Koloa Rum Company Tasting

While on the Kauai Plantation Railway Tour, our tour guide mentioned that Koloa Rum Company has free rum tastings every 30 minutes.

Free rum tasting?  Why not?!

We signed up at the retail store, and waited a few minutes for our tasting to begin.
For obvious reasons, no children are allowed in the tasting room, so we had the boys wait outside with smartphones to keep them busy.

Every day the menu changes, and on the day of our tasting we sampled Dark Rum, Spice Rum, Coconut Rum, and Coffee Rum, as well as a piece of Rum Cake with Rum Fudge Sauce.

All of the rums we tasted are award-winning rums. My favorites were the Coconut and Coffee. The coconut rum was smooth, and the coffee, which is a blend of Kauai Coffee and Koloa White Rum, was aromatic and bold.

I especially liked the rum cake with the rum fudge sauce.

I really enjoyed the rum tasting, and ended up buying some rum and rum confections at the retail store (kama`aina get 10% off discount).

If you're in the area, visit Koloa Rum Company for free* rum tasting!
