A Preview of the New Angelo Pietro in Kaimuki

Ever since the previous Angelo Pietro location shuttered just over a year ago, fans have been anxiously awaiting the announcement of where and when the new restaurant would open.

So it's no surprise that the announcement that the opening of their new location in Kaimuki tomorrow, Friday October 23 (5pm) was welcomed with excitement!

Beginning tomorrow, guests will be able to dine on their favorite fusion pastas or try one of several new menu items.

Last night I attended a Tasting where we had a chance to try a couple of classic dishes, as well as a few new ones.
Raw Potato Salad
We started off the dinner with the famous Raw Potato Salad.  Drizzled with one of Angelo Pietro's dressings (Shoyu, Ginger, or Sesame & Miso), the salad provided a lot of crunch and a bit of bite (from the Radish Sprouts).
5 Cheese Basil Sauce Pasta
I really enjoyed the 5 Cheese Basil Sauce Pasta, not only because of the multi-cheesy goodness (Gouda, Mozzarella, Gorgonzola, Cottage Cheese, Parmigiano), but also because of the Bacon (bacon makes everything better, right?) and Onions (I love onions!), and the light, yet flavorful Basil Sauce.

Create Your Own Pasta - Spinach and Mushroom with Garlic Oil and Fried Onions
This Create Your Own Pasta dish was my favorite dish of the evening, and I would definitely order it exactly the same way on a future visit.  Garlic Oil?  Yes, please!  I love simple sauces that give pastas a burst of flavor, and this dish had everything I loved - Fried Onions, Spinach, and Mushrooms - YUM!!!
Spaghetti Sukiyaki Style
The Spaghetti Sukiyaki Style consisted of Spaghetti topped with Beef, Mushrooms, Tofu, Onions, and Cabbage mixed in a special Sukiyaki Sauce, and then topped with a Sunny-Side Up Egg.  This dish leaned toward the sweeter side, and the sauce seemed to slip off the spaghetti too easily, but the Tofu, Mushrooms, and other ingredients really soaked up the sauce and all of its flavor.
Mussel & Shrimp Spicy Tomato Sauce, Conchiglie
I am not a huge fan of red sauce, but the Spicy Tomato Sauce in the Mussel, Shrimp, and Conchiglie dish was very delicious!  Cherry Tomatoes and Arugula rounded out the dish, and I thought the sauce really stuck to the Conchiglie well.

The new restaurant is quite smaller than the previous one, but the renovated, open space is warm and inviting.

Reservations are no longer being taken for the weekend.  As of this posting reservations are currently available starting Monday, October 26.

I already made a reservation for a future visit!
