Lunch with the Family at Cactus

Ever since my husband and I visited Cactus two years ago, we've been wanting to go back with the kids, and we finally had a chance to do so one recent weekend.

I ordered the Torta Special, which came with Shinsato Farm's Pork Carnitas on a Garlic-Grilled Torta Roll, topped with Salsa Criolla, Guacamole, Candied Bacon, Jack Cheese, and House Made Chicharrones.

I did not expect the sandwich to be so huge, and the pieces of pork to be so gigantic, so I had to "knife and fork" it.  The sandwich had a lot of different components and it was full of flavor.

My husband ordered the Dos Tacos with House-Made Turkey Chorizo.  He liked it, but he enjoyed my sandwich more - he ate half of my sandwich, and I ate one of his tacos, and I actually liked his taco more.

The Lil' Prickler Menu offers an entree, drink and dessert all for $9.  My kids loved the food - my oldest especially loved the Cinnamon Apples, and my younger two loved the Sweet Potato Fries.

The Empanada was a dessert special.  The Empanada was filled with mango, tossed in a cinnamon sugar, and served with a dolce de leche sauce and a blood orange sorbeto.

The empanada filling was a little too tart for me, but the pastry was delicious, and the sorbeto was my favorite part of the dish.

Service was great, and Cactus is nice place to take the family out for a meal!
