$10 Lunch Special at Shabu Shabu House

I love shabu shabu because it's a healthy meal.  It has a little bit of protein, lots of veggies, and the food is cooked by boiling it in water, not frying in oil.  Dipping sauces are offered to give your meat and veggies an extra kick of flavor above its natural flavor.

One of the best deals in town for shabu shabu is at Shabu Shabu House on Kapiolani Blvd. During their lunch service, you can get a complete shabu shabu meal for only $10.  You get to choose between beef, pork, or beef and pork, and each meal comes with a bowl of rice and plate of vegetables: choy sum, chinese cabbage, tofu, a slice of kabocha, enoki mushrooms, and udon. Three different dipping sauces are offered: sesame, ginger and ponzu.

The restaurant is hot and steamy because of the boiling pots of water, so dress comfortably and be prepared to share your hot pot with the person sitting across from you.  It helps to sit across from someone who will be ordering the same thing as you since your food will be mixed together in one pot.
