Visit Portland: Nong's Khao Man Gai

If you do your research on Portland’s food cart scene, one name will pop up repeatedly:  Nong’s Khao Man Gai.  The popular dish is poached, organic chicken with rice and it's served with Nong’s amazing ginger sauce.
After a 3.5 hour food tour, the last thing on our minds was more food, but since we were so close to the famous food cart pod on SW 10th & Alder Street, we had to stop by.  Nong’s is actually located across the street between 10th and 11th.
As to be expected, there was a long line and sadly both our phones died before we could take any pictures of the famous Nong and her food truck.  We got our chicken and rice along with a thai iced tea and a lychee drink.  We didn’t actually eat our meal until a couple of hours later after some shopping, but when we did, we were in awe.
The ginger sauce will make your taste buds sing.  The chicken is moist and the rice is satisfying, but that sauce!  You’ll think (or at least I did): I wish they would bottle it so I can drink it!  And you’ll be in luck, because Nong is a mind reader and knows her sauce is amazing and people will want to drink it and will have them available by the bottle.
If you are visiting Portland and have your one choice of food carts, stop here for your tastebuds’ sake.
