Visit New York City: Eataly

Thanks to Celebrity Chef Mario Batali, you don't need to travel to Italy to find real Italian food and wine, you just need to find a way to New York City. Chef Batali opened Eataly in 2010 and is a popular destination for locals and tourists. It's not just a conglomeration of restaurants, it's an experience that will make you want to leave your low-carb diet at the door.

We came here to eat, and there are a handful of eateries to choose from. I love pasta and my hubby loves pizza, and so we ended up at La Pizza & La Pasta.

Penne Rigate al Pomodoro (I substituted spaghetti for the penne)

Capricciosa Pizza

Tagliatelle al ragu di manzo

La Stella

In addition to its many eateries, Eataly has a marketplace full of enticing things to consume on the spot or take home to enjoy later. Here's just a glimpse of what's available:

Vast selection of bread made daily

Cheese

Colorful produce

Fresh house-made pastas and raviolis

Seafood

Gelato from Gelateria

Desserts

and more desserts!
