Bread & Butter

The last time I went to Bread & Butter was for the grand opening.  I thought it was a great space, and the food that we sampled was great as well.  I concluded that I was eager to "go back soon for a nice, leisurely meal."

Well, I didn't go back until last month (over a year later), but I did have a leisurely meal, and unfortunately it was too leisurely.

Mushroom Pizza

Beef Ragu

Mushroom Risotto
I ordered the Mushroom Risotto.  I really liked the flavor of the risotto, which was full of shimeji, oyster, and button mushrooms, along with onions and truffle oil, but the consistency was a little on the dry side, and not as creamy as I would have liked.

For the most part, my friends seemed to enjoy their food, but there were many comments about how the service could have been much better.

Although our server was very sweet and friendly, she was unfamiliar with the specials or the menu itself (when asked if the Beef Ragu was a white or red sauce, she said white); it took over 30 minutes for some of us to get waters which we requested as soon as we sat down (despite her delivering drinks to the table, she kept forgetting the waters until we requested them again); water refills were sparse; and she even forgot to put in an order for a dish, which was subsequently cancelled by the person who ordered it.

Service was so poor that I even passed on dessert since I just didn't want the unpleasant dining experience to continue.

It's unfortunate the service was unsatisfactory, since I really liked the food.
