Yakiniku Seoul

I recently celebrated my birthday with my family at Yakiniku Seoul in Honolulu — a place that holds a lot of sentimental value for me. The last time I dined here was with my father, who has since passed. Coming back felt like a quiet way to honor his memory, and I’m so glad I chose to return.

I had forgotten how good this place really is! From the moment we sat down, the banchan (Korean side dishes) brought everything to life — flavorful, varied, and just enough to keep us happy while we waited for our main dishes.

To make things easier (and quicker), we let the kitchen cook our meats. I usually prefer not to grill at the table when we’re eating out — doesn’t that defeat the purpose a little? Sometimes it's nice to just sit back and enjoy the meal without doing the work.

We shared a generous spread: mandoo (dumplings), chop chae (glass noodles), seafood pancakeboneless kalbisliced brisket of beef, and BBQ chicken. Every bite was packed with flavor. I thought we’d definitely have leftovers, but everything was so delicious we ended up finishing it all.

I can’t wait to return, and next time, I’ll make sure to take a picture of all the dishes!

Reservations are recommended, especially during peak dinner hours — this place can get busy. Parking is available in the back of the building.
