Visit Alabama: Mardi Gras Park

Most people (myself including) associate Mardi Gras with New Orleans, but after visiting Mardi Gras Park in Mobile, Alabama, I discovered that Mobile was actually the site of the first Mardi Gras celebration in the US!

We had some time to kill before going to dinner, so we checked out Mardi Gras Park, which is adorned with statues of significant figures integral to the parades, such as jesters, musicians, kings, queens, and an Indian chief.

There is a huge grassy area if kids want to run around and release some energy, as well as a few benches.
