Visit Austin: Manuel's

I was trying to avoid dining at too many chain restaurants while in Austin, and if I could make reservations online, even better!

Since most of our dining choices were last-minute, depending on how tired we were or where we were in the state, when I saw that Manuel's still had reservations one evening, I quickly booked.

Manuel's focuses on dishes from Mexico's coastal and interior regions,

Sopes with Shredded Chicken

Tortas de Papa Y Masa

I wasn't very hungry, so I just opted for a couple of appetizers that I could share with the fam. The Sopes are essentially grilled masa boats with black bean paste, and topped with shredded chicken, salsa, cheese, lettuce, sour cream, and onions.

The Tortas de Papa Y Masa is a grilled potato and masa cake stuffed with a black bean paste and cheese.

Chili con Queso with Housemade Chorizo

The Chili Con Queso was quite good.  Definitely get it with the chorizo (additional fee).

Lomo de Res

Manuel's Famous Mole Enchiladas

Manuel's mole was voted Best Mole in Austin by Wine Spectator, and it was absolutely delicious.  The blend of chocolate and herbs and spices was just fabulous.

Chicken Quesadilla

Crab Enchiladas

Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was great.  We have a very nice family dinner at Manuel's!
