Chubbies Burgers - Now Open in Kaimuki!

After operating as a food truck in Ward Village for years, Chubbies has moved into the restaurant space formerly occupied by Koko Head Cafe in Kaimuki.

I don't normally go to restaurants on their first day of business, but since we were going to be in the area, and it's been forever since we've had a good burger and fries, we decided to visit Chubbies on their first day of their soft opening!

Orders are taken at the register up front, and if you opt to dine-in, seating is on a first come first served basis.

We arrived at about 5 pm and had no problem finding a table top for four. We placed our orders, filled our own water cups at the water station, and took a seat. Our order was delivered to us surprisingly quickly considering this was their first day of business in their new location.

We ordered the 50s Burger, Veggie Burger, small fries and a small onion rings.

The 50s burger comes with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and signature 50s sauce, on a grilled potato bun.

The Veggie Burger comes with a housemade veggie patty, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, sprouts, and 50s sauce.   Chubbies makes one of the best veggie burgers IMHO. The veggie patty is made in-house and you can really taste the difference.

A small order of onion rings, housemade with red onion beer batter, and panko, comes with four rings. I really wish I had ordered the regular size!

The fries are crinkle cut, and retains its cripiness.

We both really enjoyed our meal. Same great quality as before, but now we can enjoy Chubbies' smashburgers and cripsy fries and onion rings in an indoor setting with tables, chairs, air conditioning, and a restroom!

Next time around we will add a milkshake or two to our order. They also have dessert for those with a sweet tooth!

Open for dine-in or take-out. Currently not accepting online orders.
