“Pan Pacific Retail Management Hawaii is proud to support our local ranchers while also partnering with HAF to teach our keiki about local agriculture and the importance of food security,” says Jordan Tanoue, Meat & Deli Buyer of PPRMHI “ʻOhana Cattle Company sources cattle raised by local ranching families throughout the Hawaiian Islands and aims to preserve the paniolo lifestyle.”
“We are grateful for the generous donation from PPRM and ‘Ohana Cattle Company to support our K-12 education programs,” says Denise Yamaguchi, Executive Director of HAF.
“With this donation, we can continue our work on cultivating the next generation of farmers and ranchers through our programs in the public schools.” HAF’s K-12 education programs play an important part in planting the seeds of interest in our keiki to choose an ag-related career, needed to help increase local food production and safeguard the sustainability of our islands. Beginning in elementary school, students learn about plant life cycles beginning from seeds to growing and harvesting vegetables. At the upper elementary level and through middle school, students are introduced to other methods of farming such as aquaponics. At the high school level, HAF programs offer students the opportunity to gain real-world working experiences through internship programs with local ag-based businesses.
To support this promotion, HAF is also hosting a Localicious Cooks Instagram Sweepstakes.
