HOLEY GRAIL DONUTS CELEBRATES NATIONAL DOUGHNUT DAY WITH INSPIRED CONFECTIONS AND SOULFUL BEATS

The original taro donut purveyor hailing from Kauai, Holey Grail Donuts will be celebrating National Doughnut Day on Friday, June 4, with its most coveted donut, the Purple Haze.  Deep-fried in coconut oil to express a beautifully crisp exterior and ethereal taro cake inside, the Jimi Hendrix-inspired pastry will be lacquered with an ube (purple sweet potato) glaze and drizzled with a passionfruit swirl.  The treat will be given away complimentary all day long—one donut with every purchase made at each of the Holey Grail Donut locations in Hawaii.  At the Ward Centre location, patrons will be able to indulge in sweets to the beat of two accomplished disc jockeys from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., with a number of prize giveaways.

In addition to the Purple Haze, donut lovers are invited to enjoy four other flavors available for purchase from May 30 to June 5.  Reincarnated, showcases a real maple glaze, smoked coconut, and Hawaiian sea salt. Strawberry Fields, dubbed after the Beatles’ tune, features local Kula strawberries and green tea.  J Dilla pays homage to the American producer and rapper with a Lydgate Farms chocolate with a coco butter swirl.  Finally, the Black Sabbath, features black sesame sugar and bruleed apple banana. There will also be a roster of housemade beverages, including a special ube tea available on tap.

On Friday, June 4, the Ward Centre location will come alive with musical mixes by two DJs.  From 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., DJ J Raz from San Francisco will get people into the groove with soul and funk music showcasing an all vinyl set.  Then, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. DJ Chaddy Daddy of Oahu will spin sultry soul, disco, and house music in the outdoor area adjacent to the store.  There will also be giveaways that day via 10 lucky boxes which will contain a Golden Ticket for redeemable for surprise merchandise.

“We invite everyone to come and celebrate the first of two National Doughnut Days a year with us,” says Nile Dreiling, President Holey Grail Donuts.  “As we recover from the challenges of 2020, we believe that music is instrumental to the healing process, and what better way than to enjoy it with indulgent desserts?”

Holey Grail Donuts has two locations on Oahu—one at Ward Centre and another in Waikiki—along with its original location in Hanalei.  For more information, visit the website at https://www.holeygraildonuts.com/
