The Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Foundation, Inc., has officially kicked off the 2020 Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Scholarship Program—an outstanding opportunity for graduating seniors in Hawai‘i to receive financial support and distinguished recognition for their hard work and academic achievement.

Students will be selected from more than 60 qualifying high schools to receive a $2,000 scholarship. From this group, finalists from each public school district, the Hawai‘i Catholic Schools, and the Hawai‘i Association of Independent Schools will be selected to receive an additional $3,000 scholarship. Three outstanding scholars will be selected among the finalists for the following scholarships:

$8,000 (total award amount) - The Karen Uno Distinguished Student Award
$10,000 (total award amount) - The Mamoru Takitani Outstanding Student Award
$10,000 (total award amount) - The Aiko Takitani Outstanding Student Award

Students have until Feb. 3, 2020 to apply online at takitanifoundation.org, and submit a hard copy of completed applications to their senior advisors/college counselors. Scholarship finalists and top scholarship winners will be announced in May 2020. Scholarship eligibility requirements and application information are available online at takitanifoundation.org.

The scholarship program was started in 1993 by Mamoru and Aiko Takitani, founders of Hawaiian Host. Since the program’s inception, more than $4 million in scholarships have been distributed to deserving scholars throughout Hawai‘i who embody the standards of excellence, innovation and dedication that the Takitanis lived by.
