The Friends of Hawaii State Art Museum (FHiSAM) present 40 works by local artist Hamilton Kobayashi “The Majesty of Hawai'i” on Friday, October 4th, from 5:30-9 pm, through January 2020.
In this solo exhibit by Hamilton Kobayashi shown at Artizen by MW Cafe Gallery, Kobayashi masterfully captures the power and energy of Hawaii’s ever changing land and seascapes.
To support his family, Hamilton Kobayashi, a graduate of UH Manoa (BFA) in 1974, gave up painting until he was inspired by Satoru Abe and his passion for painting was reignited. When he took up his brushes again, Abe’s words of encouragement resonated: “No matter what, just be creative.” Kobayashi paints water that a fisherman would be happy to drop a line in and volcanic landscapes that invoke the power of Pele. Above all, he embraces the process of creativity.
Hamilton has exhibited at the O’ahu Country Club, Japanese Cultural Center, Satoru’s Gallery, Chanel Boutique and Saks Fifth Avenue Galleries in Waikiki.
