Kai Coffee Hawaii to Open at 'Alohilani Resort

With each new store opening, Kai Coffee Hawaii evolves into a more formidable brand by augmenting its amazing lineup of quality Hawaiian coffees with new menu items, made in-house. For its third location at the ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach, the coffee boutique will be adding delicately crafted sweet and savory crepes as a perfect complement to its lineup of fresh artisanal sandwiches and daily- baked pastries. The new location is slated to open on April 3, 2019—almost five years after its founding—and boasts a pristine oceanfront view fronting Kalakaua Avenue.

The soon-to-be flagship store for Kai Coffee Hawaii will have 1,579 square feet of space, complete with a protracted counter resembling a surfboard that will serve as an espresso/pour over area and crepe bar.

The sprawling action station will feature all of the current popular drinks along with a variety of thin pancakes, including those made with a vegan buckwheat batter. It will be flanked by 15 indoor seats via a communal table on one side and three deuces on the other. An additional 30 seats and small patio tables fashioned with umbrellas will skirt the front of the café, making for an ideal people-watching spot that seems quintessentially Parisian in spirit.

Inside, burnished monkeypod, stained sapele, pine and other wood accents will add warmth to the space, contrasted by a soothing blue glass tile “Aloha” mosaic welcoming guests into the space. On one wall, a painted mural of the various stages of the “bean to cup” process as depicted by fellow barista/artist Ro Aczon will face the opposite wall graced with pictures of the surf culture in Hawaii. In the back of the café, retail shelves will frame the space for the location’s focal point, a room showcasing a restored and operational antique coffee roaster as well as a cupping station set to offer interactive tastings and mini lessons on the revered bean.

“I want people to enjoy Hawaiian coffee, but also to appreciate the holistic coffee experience, including how to savor coffee in a healthy way,” reveals Sam Suiter, owner and founder of Kai Coffee Hawaii. “We want to offer an engaging encounters while also having a meal that complements the beverage.

Furthermore, we want to offer the option to go slightly healthier when enjoying their anti-oxidant rich beverage with the inclusion of milk alternatives such as Barista Series milks in oat, hemp, almond, coconut, soy, and macadamia nut alternatives, and even other delectable drinks such as a turmeric chai.”

Kai Coffee Hawaii’s ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach location will be open from 5:30 am to 11:00 pm, Sunday through Saturday, 365 days a year.
