Taste of Kyoto at 53 By The Sea March 6-8

Four Michelin-star rated Chef Kunio Tokuoka is planning his return to Hawaii this spring for a series of epicurean events hosted by 53 By The Sea. From March 6 - 8, 2019, the popular Honolulu fine-dining restaurant will transport guests to the tranquil, bamboo-lined streets of Japan for Taste of Kyoto, featuring multi-course masterpieces inspired by Chef Kunio Tokuoka’s KYOTO KITCHO restaurants in collaboration with celebrated local chef, Chef Alan Wong.

“It’s an honor to welcome talented Chef Kunio Tokuoka back to our kitchen for another highly anticipated ‘Taste of Kyoto’ event,” said Tony Castillo, General Manager of 53 By The Sea. “We look forward to providing our guests with an unforgettable gourmet meal that they would otherwise not be able to experience anywhere in the islands.”

For the event, 53 By The Sea will be transformed with a Japan-inspired backdrop inspired by the beautiful Kyoto and kaiseki dining traditions. Each event in the three-day culinary series is a reflection of Chef Tokuoka’s exquisite cuisine prepared at KYOTO KITCHO. Often heralded as the epitome of Japanese fine dining, the restaurant is well-known for its ceremonious, multi-course menus served on antique, authentic Japanese dishware.

“I am looking forward to returning to the beautiful island of Oahu for another year celebrating the island’s truly exceptional ingredients and flavors,” said Chef Tokuoka. “The warmth, and aloha that guests share with me stands out over other places that I’ve traveled and I hope, is showcased in the food that I prepare for them.”
