November at Blue Note Hawaii

November is jam packed with some of the world’s most celebrated musicians. Pop and world-jazz vocalist Basia makes her Blue Note Hawaii debut and genre bending “little orchestra” Pink Martini performs for three nights only. The Hawaii News Now Jazz Legends Series continues with bossa nova king Sergio Mendes, followed by the return of guitarist Stanley Jordan. Singer-songwriter Eric Hutchinson returns by popular demand and the month comes to an exciting close with funk legends Tower of Power.

Tributes this month include local favorite Josh Kaye and Friends celebrating the music of James Brown and the Guidance Band paying homage to the great Bob Marley. Other local talents this month include up and coming diva Lana Kei and GRAMMY® Award-Winner Kalani Pe’a performing brand new original compositions off of his latest release. GRAMMY® nominated and Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-winning group Kahulanui brings their nine-piece Hawaiian Swing Band from the Big Island of Hawaii and Willie K will treat audiences to another rousing performance. Andy Bumatai will have you laughing in the aisles as he hosts a night of Hawaiian comedy, followed by a showcase of phenomenal local talent featuring Tavana, Yoza and Keith Batlin. Folk singer Stef Mariana makes her Blue Note debut, Brittni Paiva delights on ukulele, and Anuhea returns for her third annual Thanksgiving residency.

A 15% kama‘aina discount is available to residents for most shows. This is available online with code MAHALO15, as well as in person at the box office. Parking is validated at the OHANA East Hotel for $6 for four hours, and at the Outrigger Waikiki for $15 for four hours valet.

Basia is a unique world-jazz vocalist who has sold millions of records world-wide. She’s scored a number of adult contemporary hits, as well as a Top 30 pop hit with her song “Time and Tide.” Basia conjures a breezy fusion of jazz and Brazilian/Latin sounds that are topped with her beguiling vocals.

Pink Martini draws inspiration from music from all over the world, crossing genres of classical, jazz and old-fashioned pop. Hoping to appeal to conservatives and liberals alike, Thomas Lauderdale founded the “little orchestra” to provide more beautiful and inclusive musical soundtracks for political fundraisers for causes such as civil rights, affordable housing, the environment, libraries, public broadcasting, education and parks. The 10-piece band will feature China Forbes on vocals.

Josh Kaye and friends pay tribute to the Godfather of Soul, the Godfather of Funk, Mr. Dynamite, the Hardest Working Man in Show Business - James Brown. A progenitor of funk music and a major figure of 20th-century popular music and dance in a career that lasted 50 years, he influenced the development of several music genres.

Lana Kei is an 18-year-old singer-songwriter from Honolulu, Hawaii. Raised in a musical family, she started performing around the island with her family group “Da Famili,” at age 10. At age 15 she won Hawaii Stars, at 16 she won a singer-songwriter contest and at age 17 she released her first single, as a solo artist, “Rock With Me.”

Opener for Eric is 16-year-old singer-songwriter Jenny Yim.

Dubbed "The Hawaiian Kings of Swing," they are known for their innovative and creative arrangements.

Local reggae group Guidance Band returns to Blue Note Hawaii for a tribute to reggae icon Bob Marley.   1. There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game. Both boys and girls feel the impact of just a moment?s pleasure, for the rest of their lives.
