Halloween Happenings at Royal Hawaiian Center

Royal Hawaiian Center will host Halloween activities for kids and pets this year, including costume contests and two Trick-or-Treating opportunities!

The fall holiday will kick off with the Center’s inaugural Howl-O-Ween Doggie Costume Contest partnership with Hawaii Doggie Bakery. From October 1 – 17, guests are invited to post photos of their dog in their best Halloween costume to Instragram using #RHCHOWL. The top 25 contestants will have the chance to be part of the Howl-O-Ween Doggie Parade on Sunday, October 21 at 3:00 p.m. in The Royal Grove to compete for the title of top dog and win Royal Hawaiian Center gift cards and other great prizes.

The Center continues the festivities with its annual Keiki Halloween Costume Contest on Sunday, October 28 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. also in The Royal Grove. Branded as the largest costume contest in the state, keiki from infancy to 10 years old and their parents are invited to compete in a variety of themes with first, second, and third place prizes in four categories, in additional to an overall grand prize winner. This year’s categories include:

  • Most Creative (ages 3-5 years)
  • Most Original (ages 6-10 years)
  • Best Ohana (Parent & Child Costume Combo, age for child infancy to 10 years)
  • Grand Champion
The Grand Champion will receive a $250 Royal Hawaiian Center gift card and a special merchant gift basket. First, second, and third place winners in each category will receive merchant gift baskets and a $100, $50, or $25 Royal Hawaiian Center gift card respectively. Children and their parents should gather in The Royal Grove (between Buildings B and C along Kalākaua Avenue) for the official parade of costumes. Preregistration online will begin on Monday, October 1 at RoyalHawaiianCenter.com/Events.
