Artizen by MW

It's been about two years since I last dined at Artizen by MW for lunch in downtown Honolulu. When a friend who works in downtown wanted to meet for lunch, I suggested Artizen since they had recently re-opened after a two month closure due to unforeseen construction.

Artizen is a great place for lunch in the downtown area, as the restaurant has a lot of seating for customers by downtown standards, it's air-conditioned, and since it's fast-casual (no waiter service), you don't have to tip and you can get in/out quicker (since you can just get up and go after you're done eating).

The Bento is an excellent choice if you're looking for variety. Today's bento came with kalbi, fried fish, jidori chicken, Portuguese sausage, served over furikake rice and farmers banchan.

The Chili Bowl is no ordinary bowl of chili, as it comes with bits of tender short rib beef, Portuguese sausage and ground beef, topped with cheese and a corn and green bean salsa.

Of course, you can't come here without trying one of their desserts like this Lilikoi Chiffon, made by Executive Pastry Chef/Co-Owner Michelle Karr-Ueoka.
