Homeless Families Enjoy a “Family Night Out” on Giving Tuesday

Thanksgiving is about family, food and fellowship. But for homeless families, it can be a struggle to celebrate the holidays. Family Promise of Hawaii, a local nonprofit assisting families experiencing homelessness, is treating families being sheltered in the program to a “Family Night Out” at Kailua ice cream shop Cookies & Cream on Tuesday, November 28, at 5:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to stop by during regular shop hours to support Family Promise by making a donation in the spirit of Giving Tuesday.

“We appreciate Cookies & Cream opening their doors to our families for a special treat all the while encouraging their patrons to donate to our cause on Giving Tuesday,” says Samantha Church, executive director of Family Promise of Hawaii.

“As a local business in Kailua, we are aware of Family Promise’s mission since they operate a shelter in this community,” says Christyna Serrano, owner of Cookies & Cream. “To host their families on Giving Tuesday is a special opportunity for us to make the holiday season a little sweeter for them.”

Cookies & Cream will be open from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28th. The public is encouraged to stop by to make a donation to Family Promise of Hawaii.
