12th Annual Fueling Dreams Drives Support for Special Olympics Athletes

Starting Wednesday, July 5, 2017, Par Hawaii is pumping up support for Special Olympics Hawai’i. The company’s annual Fueling Dreams campaign returns for its 12th year, allowing island drivers to make a donation to Special Olympics Hawai’i at any one of 45 participating Hele, 76 and Tesoro stations throughout O’ahu, Kauai, Hawai’i Island and Maui. All donations received will provide opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities to train and compete free of charge, including participating in the upcoming Holiday Classic, scheduled for November 11 to 12, 2017.

Par Hawaii, marketer of the Hele, 76 and Tesoro brands of gasoline in the islands, has been a strong supporter of Special Olympics Hawai’i for more than 27 years.

“Our entire team is very passionate and proud of our involvement with Special Olympics Hawai’i,” said Eric Lee, Par Hawaii’s Vice President – Retail.  “From volunteering at their annual State Summer Games to hosting our annual Fueling Dreams campaign, we are truly humbled by the support of our employees and the community. Over the years, the Fueling Dreams campaign has raised more than $650,500 for these amazing athletes.”

As part of the campaign, which runs through August 8, 2017, Special Olympics Hawai’i and Par Hawaii will give away three $500 gift cards. Those who donate $5 will receive one entry; those who donate $20 will receive five entries. The more entry blanks you enter, the better your chances are to win a $500 Hele, 76 or VISA/American Express gift card. A donation is not required to enter the drawing. For a free entry blank, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Special Olympics Hawai‘i, P.O. Box 3295, Honolulu, Hawai‘i 96801.

“Par Hawaii and its predecessors have been one of the greatest supporters of Special Olympics Hawai’i and we are excited to have one of our longest-running annual fundraisers return for another year,” said Nancy Bottelo, Special Olympics Hawai’i president and CEO. “Each year the money that Par Hawaii raises plays a critical role in our work to help fuel the dreams of athletes with intellectual disabilities.”

Special Olympics Hawai‘i provides year-round sports programs for athletes free of charge. All funds raised through Fueling Dreams will directly support the cost of facility rentals, equipment, food, lodging, and transportation for the more than 1,200 athletes and coaches scheduled to compete at this year’s Holiday Classic, November 11-12, 2017.
