Fried Somen

After making fried saimin one evening, I found myself with lots of leftover garnishes, but no more saimin noodles, so I ended up making Fried Somen!

It thought it was really tasty, and the kids loved it too.

The recipe is similar to fried saimin.  In fact, you could probably just use a fried saimin recipe and simply replace the saimin noodles with somen noodles.

I looked through a bunch of recipes online, but ended up improvising with the ingredients I had on hand, and I'm sure you could do the same!

Fried Somen

Ingredients:
  • 1 pkg (9 oz) somen noodles, boiled, rinsed, and drained
  • 2 T vegetable oil
  • 2 T shoyu
  • 2 T oyster sauce
  • 1 pkg (.35 oz) dashi-no-moto
  • garnishes (SPAM, eggs, green onions, kamaboko, etc.).
Directions:
  • In a skillet, heat oil and stir-fry noodles for 3-5 minutes.
  • Add shoyu, oyster sauce, and dashi-no-moto and mix well.
  • Add garnishes and stir-fry for 3-5 more minutes, until noodles and garnishes are evenly coated.
