Waikele Country Club Restaurant

It's hard to get all the girls together, especially during the holidays, so we recently had our Christmas dinner at the Waikele Country Club Restaurant (the old Sushi Ten; the club is going through renovations, but the menu is pretty much the same and they still have "Sushi-Ten" on the chopsticks, etc.).

Unfortunately, one of the girls couldn't make it because she was sick, but we all had a nice time still!

I ordered the Chicken Katsu, which was really good!

And here is what everyone else ordered...

The service was friendly and the food was pretty much the same--it's just the name that's changed.

It was a really nice dinner with the girls!

Sizzler-Aiea

One of DH's co-workers just LOVES Sizzler, so for Christmas we bought her a Sizzler gift card, and we ended up getting a $5 off coupon for a visit in January, so we had to use it before the month ended.

We happened to go on a Tuesday to the Sizzler in Aiea, and Tuesdays they have a Kids Eat Free promotion!

DS2 had the Kids Chicken Strips.

He loved it. His meal came with fries, a drink, and a trip to the Sundae Bar!

Sizzler Cheese Toast.I ordered the Malibu Chicken Sandwich.
It was really good. I could only finish half of it.

DH ordered the Mushroom Swiss Cheese Teriyaki Burger.
He ate the entire thing.

The servers were friendly and the prices were reasonable, and I'm sure we'll be back, especially if the Kids Eat Free promotion continues!

Dave's Hawaiian Ice Cream

One evening we decided to take the boys to enjoy some ice cream, so we headed to Dave's Hawaiian Ice Cream in Waipahu (Waipio) since we were in the area.

The boys had kiddie scoops of Chocolate and Strawberry.

And I had to get my favorite ice cream flavor--Cookies n Cream!
The ice cream was good, but the prices were a little on the high side.

Still, it was a nice way to end our evening--with an indulgent treat!

Bobs Diner, Drive Inn, and Dinner House

The other day we were in the Mapunapuna area and decided to head to Bobs Diner, Drive Inn, and Dinner House (the former Bob's Big Boy).

The restaurant is still undergoing MAJOR renovation, and is currently only open for breakfast and lunch.

We ordered DS2 Pancakes.

DH got the Loco Moco.
And I got the BLT.
Just your typical BLT sandwich. Unfortunately, they don't serve fries.

The food overall was okay--nothing spectacular. The prices were pretty high for what we were served (almost $8.00 for the BLT, and they don't even have fries!).

Also, the tables and chairs are the kind you'd find in someone's garage or backyard and they were stained and messy.

The one good thing about Bobs was the service--our server was really nice.

They still have a LOT more renovating to do, and hopefully their menu will be updated and prices lowered (and also offer fries), because I remember the old Bob's, and if the food and atmosphere were even a little like the old Bob's, I'd definitely be going back again.

Gymboree Play & Music

Every week (as long as he's not sick) DS2 goes to Gymboree Play & Music in Aiea.

He LOVES going to Gymboree and always looks forward to it.
He's enrolled in one of the Play & Learn classes, but they also offer Music, Art, Sports, and more!

The Play & Learn area is pretty large. Each week there's a theme and the teacher creates various activities using the equipment. The kids are encouraged to participate in the activities, but if they end up wandering off and doing their own thing (like DS2 usually does) that's totally fine.

Weekly classes are 45 minutes long and are approximately $80/month, and you can preview a class with your child (the new member fee is waived if you enroll the same day of your preview class).

Gymboree also offers Open Play time, and they have a very generous make-up policy for when your child is sick.

We have yet to try out the other classes, but I'm sure DS2 will love those too!

The Old Spaghetti Factory

I love going to The Old Spaghetti Factory because their food is always good and reasonably-priced!

All entrees come up with bread, soup or salad, a drink (coffee, tea, iced tea or milk), and dessert!

The bread. The butter was nice and garlicky!

I ordered the Minestrone Soup. It was the first time I had minestrone soup, and it was quite good!

DH had the Salad with House Dressing.

For my entree, I ordered the Garlic Mizithra. There were lots of mushrooms and bacon and loads of Mizithra cheese.

I thought it was okay--it looked really good, but I thought it was too salty. I don't know if it's supposed to taste like that, or maybe it's just me and my pregnancy taste-buds.
DH ordered the Tri-Combo Special, which included a half Lasagna, Chicken Marsala, and Spinach Tortellini.

The kids meals are only $5.50 and come with a drink, side (applesauce or salad), and dessert! What a deal! And even the menu comes with a packet of crackers to keep the kids' hunger at bay until the real food comes!

Both boys ordered Applesauce.
DS2 had the Ravioli (spinach and cheese).

DS1 had the Grilled Cheese. He just loves grilled cheese!

Since all of our meals came with dessert, we could choose between either Spumoni or Vanilla Ice Cream.

We all opted for Vanilla Ice Cream!

The service was great, and so were the prices!

Don't forget, you can also sign up on Facebook to become a Factory Insider to get special promotions. Although I signed up and had a coupon for a free slice of Mud Pie with the order of an entree, there was no way we would have been able to eat it even if we all shared. We were all stuffed!

Maybe I can use it the next time we go, because I know we'll be back (but I'll probably order another entree the next time)!

2010 Honolulu City Lights

Even though it's already 2011, you still have one more night to view the 2010 Honolulu City Lights.

We didn't get a chance to see the lights until after Christmas, but even so, it was still magical to see all of the whimsically-decorated trees and all of the displays!

Tonight's the last night to see them until the 2011 lights go up!
